What is burger wrapping paper used for?

Burger paper does three jobs. It wraps a burger so it can be held, it lines a box or basket, and it carries your print.

Our photos show all three uses. A yellow gingham sheet lines a white tray, and a kraft sheet half-wraps a burger. An orange printed sheet wraps another into a round parcel.

Because it is a single flat sheet, paper is the simplest burger packaging you can buy. It costs little shelf space and needs no folding before service.

Which paper suits your burgers?

The paper decides how the sheet handles grease, heat and print. This table compares the main choices.

How do you wrap a burger in paper?

A neat wrap holds the burger together and keeps the sheet from unrolling. This is the fold most kitchens use.

  1. Lay the sheet as a diamond, with one corner pointing towards you.
  2. Place the burger in the centre, slightly nearer the bottom corner.
  3. Fold the bottom corner up over the burger.
  4. Fold the left and right corners in tightly over the top.
  5. Roll the burger forward onto the top corner, seam side down.

What size sheet wraps a standard burger?

A 300 x 300 mm sheet wraps most single burgers with enough overlap to hold. Larger brioche builds and doubles usually need 350 mm.

For a half-wrap, where the top of the burger stays visible, a smaller sheet works. Fold it in half into a pocket shape before the burger goes in.

Liner sheets for boxes and baskets should be a little larger than the base. A sheet that rises 20 to 30 mm up the sides catches drips best.

If you use the same sheet for wrapping and lining, test it both ways on your largest burger before ordering. One size rarely suits every job perfectly.

Which businesses use printed burger paper?

Paper is used everywhere burgers are sold, often alongside boxes or baskets. It is also the cheapest way to add branding to plain packaging.

  • Diners and burger bars serving in baskets or on trays
  • Takeaways lining burger boxes for a cleaner look
  • Street food traders handing out wrapped burgers
  • Pubs serving burgers on boards or in baskets
  • Caterers wrapping burgers for staff lunches and parties

Does wrapping paper keep a burger warm?

A tight wrap holds heat for the first few minutes and keeps the bun and fillings together. It also stops the bun drying out under a heat lamp.

Greaseproof paper lets a little steam through, so the bun softens less than it would in sealed packaging. That makes it a good choice for crispy chicken.

Food-contact materials are available on request for burger paper, with the paper confirmed on your quote.

Wrapped burgers also stack better in a carrier bag than loose ones. The paper holds the shape so the top bun does not slide off on the way home.

Gingham, doodles or a logo: printing burger paper

Repeat patterns suit wrapping paper, because the sheet is folded and only part of it shows. A gingham check, a food doodle pattern or a repeated logo all work.

For liner sheets, a single large logo in the centre can work, since the whole sheet lies flat. Choose plain, one colour, two colour or full colour CMYK print.

Our designers will lay out a repeat for free and send a free proof before printing. Our artwork tips for printed food packaging explain how repeats line up across a fold.

Can burger paper line baskets and trays?

Yes, and many restaurants use one sheet size for both wrapping and lining. A printed liner hides marks on reusable baskets and makes a tray look finished.

For box lining, cut the sheet to sit flat in the base with a short lip. Our food basket liners made to size are worth a look if you mostly serve in baskets.

Liners also save washing time. A fresh sheet in each basket means staff only wipe the basket rather than scrub sauce from the weave after every order.

What mistakes happen with burger paper?

Ordering sheets that are too small is the most common one. A short sheet will not close, and the burger unwraps in the hand.

Heavy full colour on greaseproof paper can also disappoint. The paper is slightly translucent, so bold one or two colour designs often look cleaner.

Finally, avoid an off-centre logo on wrapping sheets. When folded, it can end up on the underside where no one sees it.

Storing sheets near the fryer or grill is another. Damp sheets stick together and tear when staff pull them apart, so keep packs sealed, dry and on a low shelf by the build station.

Can one sheet design cover your whole menu?

Most shops print one design and use it for beef, chicken and veggie burgers alike. It keeps ordering simple and the counter tidy.

Some prefer a colour code instead. A different print colour for veggie or chicken lets staff and customers tell burgers apart at a glance.

If you colour code, keep the sheet size the same for every version. Staff then reach for the right pile without thinking about size as well.

Seasonal designs work too. A short run for Halloween, Easter or a local event can sit beside your everyday sheets.

Burger Wrapping Paper: questions buyers ask

Still unsure? Call +44 7578 382054, ask us on WhatsApp or write to info@thefoodpackaging.co.uk.

What size burger wrapping paper do I need?

A 300 x 300 mm sheet suits most single burgers. Larger burgers and doubles often need 350 mm.

Is burger wrapping paper greaseproof?

Greaseproof paper is one option and resists oil well. White and kraft papers can have a coating on request.

Can I print a gingham pattern on burger paper?

Yes, gingham checks are a popular repeat on burger paper. White paper shows them brightest.

Can burger paper line a basket or tray?

Yes, the same sheets often wrap burgers and line baskets. Choose a size a little bigger than the basket base.

How do I fold burger paper around a burger?

Lay the sheet as a diamond, fold the bottom up, fold the sides in and roll forward. The seam ends up underneath.

Does kraft burger paper print well?

Yes, though colours look warmer and softer on brown paper. Bold one or two colour designs suit it.

Can burger paper go inside a burger box?

Yes, many shops line the box base with a printed sheet. It catches sauce and adds branding inside.

Is printed burger paper food-contact approved?

Food-contact materials are available on request. The paper is confirmed on your quote before printing.

Can I have my logo once in the centre of each sheet?

Yes, a central logo works well for liner sheets that lie flat. For wrapping, a repeat pattern shows better.

How is burger paper packed?

Sheets come flat in counted packs. Keep them sealed and dry until use.

How long does printed burger paper take?

Your sheets are printed within 4–6 business days of approving the free proof. They then reach you in 2–3 business days with free tracked UK delivery.

Can I order burger paper and boxes in one design?

Yes, matching paper and boxes in one order keeps the colours consistent. See our printed burger boxes made to size.
